Blog #5: Honduran Asylum Seekers Redirected

It is no surprise that the Trump administration would try to come up with some sort of agreement to keep any immigrants out of the United States. In a recent article in the Washington Post, it tells us the latest agreement that the Trump administration is brewing with the president go Honduras. The idea is to redirect Honduran asylum seekers to other countries like Venezuela or Guatemala or other South American countries. It must be noted that the president of Honduras  has been accused by U.S. prosecutors of working with drug cartels in the past. The fact of the matter is that these asylum seekers desperately need help and they're going to put out of the frying pan into the fire.

Blog #4: Language Barrier at the Border

In an article written by Emily Reed, a recent college graduate, she writes about her experience at border volunteering to help asylum seekers. She cracks down at the fact that many asylum seekers are forced to sign away their right. This is due to the fact that many are illiterate and most don't speak english. besides that, documents are handed to them in English. To me that is crazy, and it sounds more of a trap. There should be in my opinion more help for these immigrants so they can be able to comprehend what they are signing. The fact that immigration officials are basically pressuring them to sign their rights away isn't in any way moral. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/09/18/us-immigration-officials-are-manipulating-illiterate-migrants-this-must-stop/

Blog #3: Cecilia Figueroa-Figueroa

Cecilia Figueroa-Figueroa is an immigrant from Mexico, she has spent a good amount of her time here in America helping immigrants with education and legal things. She has become a volunteer at Comunidades Unidas in Utah which helps immigrants. Despite her hard work here in America, she might be facing deportation. She entered the U.S. fleeing from her home country Mexico. She lived in Gurerro where we have seen has had a huge amount of crime. Despite her efforts to become a resident she has had no hope. This is unfortunately the truth some immigrants face, becoming a resident is a hard and bumpy road and in some cases can be a dead end. Under the Trump Administration this road has only become harder. Blog #2: Trump and Venezuelan Immigrants

In a recent article in Politico, it was announced that Trump might want to get friendly with Venezuelan immigrants. This is in an attempt to win over Florida for the 2020 election. This is because of the large amount of Venezuelan population in Florida. The article also states that this will also help win over other latinos in Florida. How will he get them to side with him? His strategy is to allow them to work legally in America, being that many are fleeing from Venezuela. The article also reminds us of the fact that many of his supporters who aren't in favor of immigrants coming to America might lose interest in him.
